Leah Rose Kessler spent much of her childhood up a tree with a stack of books. She is a former elementary and middle school teacher with a background in biology and science communication. These days, when she’s not reading or writing, she keeps herself busy removing thistles and garlic mustard from her two-year old native prairie. She lives in Michigan with two humans and two cats, and has a soft spot for scurrying creatures of all shapes and sizes.
NIGHT IS A FRIEND, a lyrical love letter to nighttime, illustrated by Jean Mallard, is due out in 2027. Her debut picture book, RAT FAIR, illustrated by Cleonique Hilsaca, was published in June of 2021, and her work has appeared in Cricket Media’s Babybug and Spider magazines.
